Nekyla Mbai is a 2024 college prospect. The 5’8″ Small Forward playing out of Old Mill in Maryland, USA is currently in the country on vacation.
Nekyla was seen this morning practicing with the IE girls team under their new coach Eric Daniels. Also assisting was another veteran coach in the name of Jerome Pelham.
Nekyla showed some potential to become a future force in basketball. Her strength lies in her shooting ability and she could be seen making jumpers with a smooth stroke.
She has a lot of experience in AAU basketball, averaging 20PTS, eight dimes per game.
When quizzed about playing in Liberia she said, “I am excited about the opportunity to play basketball in Liberia. I am glad to contribute anyway I can while I am here on vacation.”
She planned a three week vacation stay but is open to stay up to two months.
“We will see,” said Coach Eric Daniels, “If she feels ok and willing to play, we will do all in our capacity to make her feel at home and extend her plane ticket,” he added.
Nekyla is expected to be in action as early as tomorrow against Desert Ladies. Hard luck for the Desert Girls, as last year, Teresa, another Liberian based prospect was on vacation and played for Vision Angels. Teresa helped the Angels secure their first win ever against Desert Ladies.
A player of IE is not too happy with the addition, speaking with anonymity she disclosed; “we have only two spaces left to add players. I believe that the technical team should recruit two imports who will be with us for the rest of the season.”
If you have nothing to do tomorrow, why not stop by the open-air Sports Commission to watch exciting female basketball.
