Monrovia Pistons have been on the basketball scene for as long as any old timer can remember. The team one known as the ‘Best Dress Team,’ had players such as; Frank McClain, John Lord-Baxter,Late A.B. Smith, Weannette Sandimane, Sekou Dorley aka6’8″, Sabastine Wright, Andrew Sandimane, Late Wilfred Patray, Billy Delaney, Alexander Gbarbea, George Gbenyon, Philip Crusoe, Coach Al William Greene and their coordinator Emmanuel Chunky Patray and a host of others.
Monrovia Pistons last two games were both a no show by them. They were scheduled to face off with Bushrod Bulls on Friday and Invincible Eleven on Sunday. The team failed to show up on both occasions.
As per the LBA standing rule, two forfeits in a season is an automatic disqualification.
Liberia Basketball Network reached out to Coach Lee of the Pistons on reason why they missed their fixture and he had this to say;
I do not have any word on why. Kindly reach out to the club president and the chairman.
LBN was unable to reach the officials prior to this release.
Monrovia Pistons were yet to secure a victory in the Phase Two of this season.
What could have gone wrong is anyone guess but one thing is certain, they are a team with fighting spirit. At all games they were undermanned but kept it going. The likes of Emmanuel Manzo Wureh will be missed.
