The fans of Barrolle waited long for this moment. To rejoice over their side finally able to put all doubt to rest that they can defeat this Bushrod Bulls team. Yet it is only the first game of an expected five game series.
Celestine Nwafor had a double double. The Nigerian big man had 13 PTS to go along with 10 REB. He was crucial in protecting his team boards as he came away with four blocked shots.
It was a charged atmosphere all through the game which had some stoppages partly due to fans as well as team officials being dissatisfied with a call. A typical Liberian final one would say.
Bushrod Bulls first final might not have started with a story book ending, but they can still write their own story in the end.
Carlos Marshall contributed 19 PTS for his side. He was heavily guided by multiple players throughout the game. Former NPA Pythons player, Will Collingwood had his best game of the season so far. He was a starter and contributed 12 PTS.
The surprise of the night was Barrolle not only leading from the get go but how easy they broke the Bulls full-court press. That’s not all, they also give their opponents a taste of their own medicine which took the Bulls players off-guard.
Abraham Ezzeddine, a diehard Barrolle fan, before the game predicted that this series would end 3-1 in their favor. If one is to go by that, the Rollers has one win with three to go.
Bushrod Bulls, who currently camp at a hotel in the upskill neighbourhood of Mamba Point, will surely not take the next game lightly.
Both teams are scheduled for Game 2 tomorrow Sunday at the SKD. Time is 7 PM. Admission is $5.00
