Highway Kings is one of the upcoming teams to watch out for in the Liberia basketball circle. A team full of young academic athletes with a strong desire to excel in the game.
Last season, they were an exciting side to look at. Their style of play, mainly run-and-gun was admire by many.
“This team can win the division,” one could normally hear spectator saying.
They came close to that objective but fell short in a best of three finals to T.S. Warriors. Despite finishing second, they still had automatic qualification to the Division Two.
Much is expected from them but as it stands, their campaign so far is proving tough.
Highway Kings has only managed to win one out of five games. They had a surprising win against Sac Base but could not make it two victories in a row.
Highway Kings achilles is no doubt their shooting woe. They shot 2 of 15 from behind the arch.
Their opponents, Bushrod Ballers were 9 from 21.
Woylah F Andrews, a member of their technical staff said, “We from ‘The Block’ and we will rep the block. In the coming years, teams will emulate us by representing their communities.”
Welcome to D2 lads, the road is difficult but the fans believe you will break from the slump and become the kings they know you to be.
