Go to the 43:33 mark

In the electrifying world of sports, there are moments that etch themselves into the collective memory of fans, moments where the line between victory and defeat becomes razor-thin, and the fate of a game hangs on the most minute of details. Such was the case in the recent showdown between Glenn Nimely’s Cestos Mogars and their opponents, a game that unfolded with all the drama and intensity one could hope for.

Glenn Nimely and his Cestos Mogars were bent on getting the game to OT. They had trailed for most of the game and had a sudden run late in the last quarter and were down by three with less than 15 seconds on the game clock. A pass from a teammate to the corner saw him and his team mate juggling to receive it. The ball landed in Glenn’s hands and he did what we all expected, hit the corner three. The crowd invaded the court and everyone went bananas which was short lived. Match official Lawrence Tweh was seen vigorously waving his hand that it was not a shot, Glenn had stepped on the line upon receiving the ball was the ref call. Glenn wears size 13 and we now have our own version of Kevin Durant!

The game overall was exciting. Both sides had excellent plays. Shaquelle Bono led his side with 15pts, 6reb. He received contributions from Darlington Jallah and Alston Mabande. The rookies had 13 and 12 points respectfully. One of the highlights of the night was a lob pass from Bono that saw Darlington throw it down over the defenders.

Ernest Bestman led all scorers with 20pts. Glenn was quiet most of the night with 5pts except for the three pointer which was ruled out.

In the aftermath of the game, opinions were divided. Some argued vehemently in support of the referee’s decision, citing the video evidence that seemed to confirm Nimely’s foot infringement. Others, however, questioned the call, suggesting that the angle of the camera may have distorted the perspective, and that perhaps Nimely’s foot was indeed behind the line.

As for Glenn Nimely, his near-heroics will be etched in the annals of Cestos Mogars’ lore. Whether his foot was truly on the line or not, one cannot deny the excitement and intensity that he brought to the court. In the end, perhaps that’s what sports are all about—moments of triumph and heartbreak, forever intertwined in the tapestry of competition.

Watching the video, do you agree with the match official that his foot was on the line?
