ELWA Spartans who were yet to pick up a win after four outings shocked the D2 world.
They been playing like a team and it was just a matter of time to get that hard sort after victory and when it came finally, it felt good, telling from their celebration after.
Perhaps they felt the W as early as the third quarter as they seem to celebrate every basket made and some highlight blocks against their opponent.
Barnesville Dragons struggle was eminent. Their efforts which normally led to buckets, this time, just wasn’t producing.
It is what can be considered a bad day at the office.
No doubt, in such encounter their shooter, Togaba Seward was needed. He has been out of the rotation in their last two games; although he was present but in street clothes. Information gathered is that he is facing some disciplinary actions for missing practices.
Fitzgerald Collins and Mark Tequah tried to keep the ship afloat in their lost. Both scored 23PTS and 18PTS respectively.
The Dragons had a combined stat line shooting 19-61 from the field compared to Spartans 21-59.
ELWA Spartans had four players scoring in double digits.
Star player for the team, Stephen Sayeh Jr had a great night. He had a double double with 19PTS, 11REB.
Coach Solo of ELWA Spartans had this to say after their victory:
We appreciate the hard work by our players today. But consistency is what matters now. We will need to maintain such energy in our upcoming fixtures.
