This day has finally come! Another much awaited rivalry between two of Liberia’s oldest rivals. Unfortunately we do not have the head to head record on who leads in their meeting, but an oldman under the palmwine tree told us it is Mighty Barrolle who has more wins. Da liquor talk?
Mighty Barrolle has won both encounters this season. In their first encounter on March 15 this year, the Rollers won 64-45. Both sides met again in Phase Two, and this time it was more competitive. Yet the Yellow Boys went down 69-62.
In recent times, I.E. is playing very well. They have defeated Bushrod Bulls twice while Barrolle is yet to experience victory against the same team. But then, basketball is cookies, it can break anyway. If my friend beat you doesn’t mean I can beat you too.
Lets look at some stats. The top scorers for Mighty Barrolle are; Brian Nyangbe and Richard Dorley . They are averaging 13 PTS for the season but in the span of the Big Six, they are currently averaging 17.3 and 19.5 PTS respectively.
On the Invincible Eleven side, Shaun Eastman and Willie Brown are averaging 12 and 11 PTS respectively in the Big Six era. Both of them will have to be on top of their game and add a couple more points each to cause an upset.
Let us not leave the bigs of both sides out. Anec Ejeh of Mighty Barrolle is almost double double in the Big six. He averages 9.3 PTS to go along with 10.3 RPG.
Sackie Jr Fahn of the Yellow Boys on the other hand has 9.8 PTS and 6.0 RPG in the same span.
If I.E. really going to win this encounter, it will be left with John Reed been level headed. Once he is able to get the ball more in his hands to make plays they might just be good.
From all analysis on paper, we are predicting Mighty Barrolle as winners for this one. It will be close and we don’t see any team scoring more than sixty points.
It’s all happening today August 14, at 6PM at the Samuel Kanyon Doe In-door Gym. Admissions, 500LD.
