”They are sleeping on us,” Tony Kaba shouted at the end of the buzzer ending the game against NPA Pythons and LPRC Oilers. It was Python’s second win back to back as they had previously defeated Cestos Mogars.

The match was a win or go home affair, as both teams were coming in with a win. The Oilers looked the favourites mainly because they had two veterans back in the lineup, Jethro and Moucta. The both were instrumental in leadership rows in their win against Invincible Eleven.

To make the play-offs, other role players will have to step up to release the burden from the Pythons combo guards Joel Martor and John Williams Jr. And they did!

Charles AbiodunPatrick Monxhwedey and Sam Paye became the x-factor in this match. Their contribution was immense not only in the crucial shots they took but also top notch defence, especially on the help side.

It is now evidence that when Charles Abiodun comes to work, his team gets the result. Last game he scored a season high fourteen points to go along with eight rebounds.

On this day, Joel Martor scored 21 points as against 33 points when they played Cestos Mogars. At such current form, only Joel can stop Joel.

LPRC Oilers’ Samuel Kpannie had a strong showing. Leading all scorers with 27 PTS. but was not enough to give them the much needed qualification win. He was eight of fourteen from the free throw line. Oilers made twenty six of forty-two attempts from the charity stripe. They were really aggressive!

With the victory, NPA Pythons are now comfortably seated at the fourth position. Who they play in the semi-final playoffs will be determined from the outcome of the match between Invincible Eleven and Mighty Barrolle this Sunday, August 14 at the SKD. If the latter loses, I.E. will go top spot setting up a clash with Pythons.

Oilers still have a fixture against Cestos Mogars but win or lose will not change their play-offs ambitions.
