What a nail-biter of a game we witnessed last night between Spartacus and Royal Legends in the Liberian Division Two League! From the opening tip-off, both teams displayed exceptional skill, making for a close game throughout.

Spartacus came into the game prepared, despite missing key player Benjamin Reeves due to a shoulder injury. Royal Legends, on the other hand, were short-handed for reasons yet unknown. This paved the way for Spartacus’ role players to shine. Josiah Attiah and Akeem Mbah stepped up big time, scoring 16 and 14 points respectively. Even their star player, Bannye Prowd, had a relatively quiet night with 7 points and 3 rebounds.
For Royal Legends, Thomas Katiah and Olandor Boyce were forces to be reckoned with, each putting up 20 points and 8 rebounds. However, the free throw line proved to be their Achilles’ heel. They attempted a whopping 46 free throws but only converted 26, including a disastrous 14 misses in the fourth quarter alone.

“During the second overtime period, the Royal Legend exhibited a lack of precision in ball handling. Despite having several opportunities at the free throw line, they were unable to capitalize on these chances. It is crucial to convert free throws, especially in overtime situations where every point matters.”
Ms. Gilman also offered her thoughts on the Liberian basketball scene:
“In my opinion, both teams performed well in the game. I find the D2 league to be more exciting to watch when compared to the D1 league.”
