In a thrilling game that had fans on their feet, Vision Shooters overcame a massive 24-point deficit to defeat G-Highlanders 64-63. The game, played on Thursday, March 14th, 2024, saw Ayouba Swaray become the hero for Vision Shooters with a game-winning layup with just 1.2 seconds remaining on the clock.

Swaray, who finished the game as the leading scorer for his team with 21 points, displayed incredible resilience despite facing a box-and-one defense for a majority of the game. G-Highlanders controlled the first half, taking a two-point lead into the break at 39-37. They continued their dominance early in the third quarter, extending their lead to a game-high 24 points.

However, Vision Shooters refused to give up. They tightened their defense in the final quarter, employing a double-teaming strategy that effectively shut down G-Highlanders’ ball handlers and blocked driving lanes. This defensive surge fueled a remarkable comeback, as Vision Shooters outscored their opponents 24-9 in the final frame to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. The buzzer-beater by Swaray sent the crowd at the SKD Gymnasium in Paynesville into a frenzy.

Team captain Abel Glay provided valuable support for Vision Shooters, contributing a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds. Peace Paul Momo was G-Highlanders’ standout performer, scoring 19 points in a dominant first half. However, his scoring slowed down significantly in the second half, as he could only manage 2 more points. He finished the game as the leading scorer for his team with 21 points, adding 6 rebounds and 2 steals to his stat sheet. Sanford Nyan and Lassana Kromah were the other G-Highlanders players in double figures, scoring 12 and 14 points respectively in the losing effort.

This win keeps Vision Shooters’ unbeaten record intact, while G-Highlanders fall to a 2-1 record. G-Highlanders will look to bounce back on Monday, March 18th, when they face T.S. Warriors at 5 pm at the SKD Gymnasium. Vision Shooters will be back in action on March 20th, against Bushrod Ballers at the same venue and time.
